God's love and kindness will shine upon us
like the sun that rises in the sky.
On us who live
in the dark shadow of death
this light will shine
to guide us into a life of peace.
Luke 1:78-79 (CEV*)
This is part of Zechariah's prophecy after the birth of his son, John the Baptist, looking forward to the coming of the Messiah. It expresses the hope of this Advent season.
The coming of Jesus Christ is Good News. It is Good News not only in the way Jesus impacted people when he walked on earth, but Good News for all of us who welcome Him into our hearts.
God's love and kindness shines upon us in the person of Jesus Christ. It shines upon us even in the worst outward conditions. It guides us into a life of peace. There may not be peace in the outward world around us, but there can be peace in our hearts through Christ. Oh what a gift!
Dear friends, do you experience peace in your heart no matter what is going on around you? If you do, thank God each day for this tremendous gift and stay close to Him. If you don't, accept Jesus into your heart and feel His indwelling presence guide you into a life of peace. May this Advent season be a time when many experience Christ Jesus being born within them.
