Still Waters is a contemplative prayer and worship group open to all meeting first and third Thursday evenings at 7:30 in upper level of the Barn at Cedar Ridge Community Church, located at 2410 Spencerville Road, Spencerville, MD. It draws from different Christian traditions using silence to still our minds to remove distractions which interfere with hearing God's voice and feeling God's spirit in our lives.
The group uses a variety of spiritual practices drawn from different parts of the Christian church. Among those used in early sessions have been Centering Prayer, waiting worship (drawing from the Quaker tradition), and Contemplative Prayer with guided imagery.
At each session, one person leads the group in a spiritual practice. Different people lead at different sessions. The sessions are usually over around 9 PM.
Still Waters is a ministry of Cedar Ridge Community Church, a nondenominational Christian fellowship. It is open to those of any affiliation, or of none.
Cedar Ridge is located on MD 198, 2 miles west of the intersection with US 29 at Burtonsville, and a little less than that east of the intersection with New Hampshire Ave. It is on the north side of the road. There is a flashing yellow light at the turn into the Church.
