Friends in Christ Weekly Message
July 16, 2011

Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit?
     to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you're there!
     If I go underground, you're there!
If I flew on morning's wings
     to the far western horizon,
You'd find me in a minute -
     you're already there waiting!
Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark!
     At night I'm immersed in the light!”
It's a fact: darkness isn't dark to you;
     night and day, darkness and light, they're all the same to you.

Psalm 139:7-12 (Message*)

Where is God? Everywhere! We can not escape the presence of the Spirit of God.

There are two angles from which to look at this. From one, we often want somehow to hide from God, as if God wouldn't love us knowing what we're up to. It's foolish to think we can hide from God, and we need not fear that God would ever withhold love from us.

The other angle is that sometimes we think God is absent. But we need not fear. God is always present and always available to us. We can count on God, not to keep us from the challenges of life, but to be ever present through them.

God is always near! Thank God! Do not hesitate to turn to God in all circumstances.

Bill Samuel
