Friends in Christ Weekly Message
February 13, 2010

We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don't maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don't twist God's Word to suit ourselves. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God.
2 Corinthians 4:2 (Message*)

It is easy to put on a mask and pretend to be other than we are. It is tempting to maneuver and manipulate, and we may try to justify it as helpful to achieve important goals. But Paul reminds us that this is not the way of followers of Christ.

The way of the Gospel is to be open and transparent. The whole truth is to be on display, not just in the words we speak but in the way we act and treat others.

This is not a technique used to be “successful,” but a way of life. Let us strive to live in the way of Christ, through His grace, and not be concerned with how others view us.
