This is once again the Great Reversal: Many who are first will end up last, and the last first.
Mark 10:31 (Message*)
Jesus states over and over again in so many ways that the order and priorities of this world are not those of the Kingdom of God. Thus we get the Great Reversal, or the upside-down kingdom as some have referred to it.
Being a “success” in this world's terms does not put one on top in God's world. Neither does being a “failure” in this world's terms put one on the bottom in God's world.
It is so easy for those of us who profess to follow Jesus Christ to get caught up in the world's ways of looking at things. We need to immerse ourselves in His Presence in our lives, and the record of His life and teachings, in order to begin to look at things from God's perspective instead of the world's.
