Friends in Christ Weekly Message
August 1, 2009

Create in me a clean heart, O God;
     and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence;
     and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;
     and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalms 51:10-12 (King James Version)

Thhe psalmist is painfully aware of his sins. He knows that he can not make his heart clean through his own efforts. So humbly he asks for God's mercy and grace so that his heart might be clean and his spirit be renewed.

We live in a society where self-improvement is a major theme. You can find many books, videos, training opportunities, etc. about how to improve yourself. But if we are to live as Jesus taught us, we can not do it by ourselves. We must call upon the Lord, and allow God to transform us from the inside out. The Lord yearns to be truly invited into our hearts to cleanse us, renew us, and transform us.

Are you ready to throw yourself upon God's mercy and grace, and allow yourself to be transformed into God's image?
