Then God would use the church to show the powers and authorities in the spiritual world that he has many different kinds of wisdom.
Ephesians 3:10 (CEV*)
The community of believers is to show that God has many different kinds of wisdom. So it's not about some neat little package, or numbered set of doctrines or principles. It's about showing the many different ways God works with us and His creation.
What a powerful, challenging concept! It should open us to be looking for the ways that God is showing wisdom that haven't been emphasized in our particular faith tradition. It should lead us to see how God is working in other believers who seem very different from us. It should get us out of the temptation to try to fit God is some box of our human construction.
How well is whatever group of believers of which you are part showing that God has many different kinds of wisdom?
