God is our mighty fortress,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
And so, we won't be afraid!
     Let the earth tremble
and the mountains tumble into the deepest sea.
Let the ocean roar and foam,
and its raging waves shake the mountains.

Where do we place our trust? It is a real temptation, especially for the affluent, to put trust in the things we create and accumulate. But these are subject to destruction and theft, and there are things we may face for which our material resources are of absolutely no use.

Only trust in God can take away our fear. God will be with us no matter what we have to face. God doesn't guarantee us an easy life, but God will stand with us and give us reason for hope no matter what happens.
