Friends in Christ Weekly Message
November 6, 2004

God our Father loves us. He is kind and has given us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope. We pray that our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father will encourage you and help you always to do and say the right thing.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (CEV*)

God loves us. This is the message repeated over and over in the Bible much as we, if in a longterm love relationship with another person, will tell that person over and over of our love. Do we recognize the depth and constancy of God's love for us?

God gives us "eternal comfort and a wonderful hope." If we do recognize the depth and constancy of God's love, we go through the storms of life comforted and secure in God's love. No matter what the outward circumstances, we are filled with "a wonderful hope."

Paul's prayer is that Christ "will encourage you and help you always to do and say the right thing." We know that Christ is always willing. But we need to remain open to Christ's work within us, and not block it. The prayers of our brothers and sisters in Christ help us in this. Just as Paul did, we need to continually be in prayer for those with whom we share this faith in Christ.

Are you living in the eternal comfort of God's love? Are filled with the wonderful hope Christ gives us? Are you in prayer for your brothers and sisters in the faith?

Bill Samuel
