Friends in Christ Weekly Message
August 7, 2004

Don't be afraid of missing out. You're my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.
"Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can't go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bankrobbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being."

Luke 12:32-34 (Message*)

Where do we put our trust? Where is our loyalty? Do we believe God's promises?

Even though we want to put our faith in God, we are so tempted to put our faith in the things of this world. What will happen to us if we don't do the things this world says to do to provide us security? Jesus tells us to put aside our fears, and trust that God will provide us with what is far greater than the world can give us.

If we truly trust God, we will not be anxious about money. We won't hoard it. We will freely give to the poor. We will focus on God rather than our material resources.

We need to examine ourselves, and see whether our lives reflect what we profess to believe. Do our lives demonstrate that we are followers of Christ? Where are we really putting our trust?
