Friends in Christ Weekly Message
April 6, 2002

Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on. God has something stored up for you in heaven, where it will never decay or be ruined or disappear.
1 Peter 1:3-4 (CEV*)

Often we store things - possessions, wealth - up because we value them and think they can give us security. But these things can decay or be ruined or disappear. They do not offer us true security. And they are of no use to us after we die.

God is the giver of every good gift. What God gives is far beyond what the material world has to offer. In Christ Jesus, we are actually given new life! We are given a hope that lives on. It sustains us in this life, and continues into the next. What God gives us retains its value; we can count on it forever.

If you are worn down by worldly struggle, God has this gift for you. Respond to God's invitation, and accept the gift. If you have already accepted this gift, cherish it. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. Don't let the temptations of this world ensnare you, but rest in the living hope that comes from God.

Thank you, God, for giving me new life and a living hope. May I always treasure this incredible gift and show others what you have to offer them.

Bill Samuel
