That message is on a church bulletin board I pass each day on the walk home from the Metro. I think there's a lot of wisdom in that cute little phrase.
Too often, I think we want God in our lives but yet we want to be in control. We think of God as someone to turn to when things get really rough, and we are no longer able to control things by ourselves. God is the one to bail us out of trouble.
In our hearts, we know that we need to turn our whole lives over to God. When we do that, the world may think us strange, but God really does know what is best for us. We really do need God to pilot our lives.
We need to come to the place where we can say with Paul, "I have died, but Christ lives in me. And I now live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me." (Galatians 2:20, CEV*)
