Friends in Christ Weekly Message
January 7, 2006

Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

Isaiah 60:1 (NIV*)

While the context for this verse is in relation to the city of Jerusalem, it is a prophetic message which can be seen in a broader context. Jerusalem, for example, can be an image for the church of Christ.

Our light, that is Christ Jesus, has indeed come. The glory of the Lord does rise upon us.

There seems to be much darkness in the world. But Christ is the light of the world, and this light is capable of eradicating the darkness. We should not be discouraged, but should live in the glory of the Lord. This is the ultimate reality, not the sin and darkness we see around us.

Arise and shine, my brothers and sisters! Live in the light of Christ Jesus. Let His glory surround you and fill you.

Bill Samuel
